As the travel industry continues to grow so does our impact to the environment. Increased spending in tourism comes with more development, more cruises, more hotels and more travelers. It’s important to be aware of the positive efforts being made to sustain a more environmentally friendly travel experience across the board.

Below is a snapshot provided by CLIA on the positive sustainability efforts made by the cruise industry. For more information visit: https://cruising.org/sustainability

#CPGreenChallenge

Continuing their commitment to going green, nearly 100 Cruise Planners Home Office Team members, their family and local Cruise Planners franchisees teamed up with VolunteerCleanup.org to clean up Dr. Von D. Mizell-Eula Johnson State Park in Dania Beach, FL. After the 2-hour cleanup, we collected 150 pounds of trash consisting of Styrofoam, rubber pieces and non-biodegradable materials, such as cigarette butts, fishing lines, plastic bottles, caps, bags, cups and so much more. VolunteerCleanUp.org provided an educational marine debris discussion with potential solutions and key takeaways.

To take it further, Cruise Planners is rallying with its partners, nation-wide franchisees, clients, friends and family to take on the #CPGreenChallenge. Participants don't have to do a beach cleanup. One can do their part and pick up litter any where - at home or on vacation. One can make a difference in their neighborhood, parks, beaches and more, by tagging friends and family and challenging them to go GREEN with the #CPGreenChallenge!

Going Paperless with Cruise Planners and Trafalgar

Cruise Planners have teamed up with Trafalgar to work toward a greener way to book travel. For each Trafalgar travel package booked by Cruise Planners travel advisors utilizing e-docs, one tree is planted with Trafalgar via One Tree Planted. Cruise Planners e-docs adoption rate is up to 84%--the highest among all of Trafalgar’s partners. Since partnering together, Cruise Planners paperless booking is up by 117%. To date—Trafalgar has reforested more than 150 acres of devastated land.

In addition to selecting e-docs, Cruise Planners helps ease the paper trail through mobile technology where travelers can save vacation details on their phone.
